Frequently Asked Questions
We use a heat-set "HI-TEK Supercoat" manufactured by J&M Specialized Products in Australia:
- Our bullets are cast from certified 95-5 and 92-6-2 alloy with a Brinell hardness of 13-14 and 16-17 based on bullet.
- Coating is non-abrasive and contains no PTFE or MOLY.
- Safe to use in Glock's polygonal-rifled barrels.
- Reduced leading and in most cases eliminated.
- The coating gives off no toxic out gassing or particulate matter when fired.
- Cleaner air, cleaner hands, cleaner reloading equipment, and cleaner guns.
- Greatly reduce the amount of smoke normally associated with cast bullets.
- No wax lube to gum up your loading dies.
- Minimizes your exposure to lead.
- *We recommend using standard cast bullet loading data.*
Q. Can I order certain bullets sized to a Custom Diameter?
A. Yes! Please contact us for availability and pricing.
Q. What does the Hi-Tek coating do?
A. The coating we apply simulates a jacketed round. It eliminates the need for lube on the cast bullet and also greatly reduces the smoke normally seen from shooting a lubed cast lead bullet. Since the bullet is sized after being coated it also allows for a better seal in the barrel and provides for a more accurate bullet with a slight gain in velocity.
Q. Can I shoot Hi-Tek or powder coated bullets indoors?
A. Yes! The coating is not hard enough to cause issues in an indoor range like a full metal jacket would.
Q. How do I load Hi-Tek and powder coated bullets?
A. Please load our coated bullets to cast lead velocities. Make sure your reloading dies are properly set as not to scrape off the coating while seating and crimping the bullet.
Q. Does the color affect performance?
A. The color does not affect performance.
Q. Can I order custom colors?
A. Custom colors are available through special order. Pricing of custom colors will depend on color chosen and quantity ordered.
